Have you been living in poverty so long that you forgot what you are capable of? This question is multifaceted and exemplifies how easily we fall out of touch with our potential. At first glance, you may think of poverty from a financial standpoint. This is how most of us have been conditioned nowadays. Whenever we hear the words “poor” or poverty,” money tends to come to mind. You must mold your thoughts to look at things from different angles. Being poor does not just mean you don’t have a lot of money. Being in a state of poverty does not have to be solely attached to your finances. Poverty correlates with scarcity, but let’s move beyond money. My hope for you is that you finally wake up and realize you are the one holding yourself back.
The reason you forget what you can accomplish is because you are equipped with a poor mentality. You place so many limitations on yourself that you can’t realize your goals have been waiting on you. This is the type of mindset that guarantees failure and that will undoubtedly be the reason you don’t reach your milestones. It’s most commonly known as a scarcity mindset. When you live in the realm of a scarcity mindset, no matter what, you will always think there will never be enough. You may be thinking the amount of work you put into something will never be enough. These types of thoughts are so detrimental to your success. If your focus is always on what you are lacking, you won’t be able to enjoy the things in life that you deserve.
On the other side of scarcity there is abundance. This abundance will be in its truest and fullest form. Humans are prone to our own vain and selfish ways. This means we tend to think we have to get one up on someone else to be successful. I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this way. This doesn’t just factor into the scarcity mindset, but it also ties in with the crabs in a bucket mentality. I want to let you know you must start thinking with an abundance mentality. There is more than enough room at the table for everyone to eat. You can achieve all your goals when you think in terms of abundance. I once heard someone say, “No one has to lose for me to win.” This is one of the keys to life we all should know. Focus on what you can control and set yourself up to live in a life of abundance. This will translate into you making the most out of your life. Your relationships, mindset, academics, and everything else will fall into place and become more enriched. It is up to you make this mental shift though. There are two sides of the coin. There is scarcity, and there is abundance. Neglect the side with scarcity and thrive on the side of abundance. Then, you will undoubtedly be able to make the rest of your life the best of your life.
